The historic Miller Cottage is owned by Chautauqua Institution and is currently used as a private residence.

The gardens are open to the public on Wednesdays from 12:30-2:30pm during the Chautauqua season with docents in the gardens to Janine Obee will lead a Historical Tours at 12:30 and members of the Chautauqua Institution Garden Team will host a Horticultural Q&A from 1:30-2:30pm.

The gardens were designed by Landscape Architect Ellen Biddle Shipman in collaboration with Mina Miller Edison in 1922 and restored 100 years later by Chautauqua Institution in collaboration with gifts from the community.
