Henrietta Ord Jones Society
The Henrietta Ord Jones Society (HOJ) of the Chautauqua Bird Tree & Garden Club recognizes individuals who make a donation of $200 to sponsor the 2026 BTG House & Garden Tour. Corporate and individual (HOJ) sponsorships provide funding for the various expenses involved in presenting the House & Garden Tour. Any sponsorship funds remaining after all expenses are paid are allocated to programs and special initiatives of the BTG.

The leadership gifts of the HOJ's help sustain the presentation of the biennial House & Garden Tour, which is the main fundraiser for the BTG, providing funds for two years of programs which are free and open to everyone. The BTG is a 501-c-3 organization that works in partnership with, but is independent of, Chautauqua Institution.

HOJ Sponsors receive one complimentary Tour Booklet/Ticket for the 2026 BTG House & Garden Tour scheduled for Thursday, July 16, 2026. The names of all corporate and HOJ Sponsors, homeowners, and key partners will be featured in the 2026 Tour Booklet and in a thank you ad in the Chautauquan Daily. Henrietta Ord Jones Society sponsors will have a special sticker on their Tour Booklets which will enable them to attend a private HOJ reception the day of the House & Garden Tour.

Henrietta Ord Jones was a founder of the BTG. Known as "The Little General", she organized, facilitated, and encouraged the other founders to establish an active and successful Bird and Tree Club in 1913. Her home, where she hosted the Club's first meetings in an upstairs open-air logia, still stands overlooking the Arboretum.
HENRIETTA ORD JONES SOCIETY

Henrietta Ord Jones co-founded the Chautauqua Bird and Tree Club with Louise Igoe Miller in 1913. (The name was changed to the Bird, Tree and Garden Club in 1952).

Known as “The Little General,” she organized, facilitated, and inspired the other founding members of the club.
In 1915, she donated the land for the Arboretum.

Her home, which she called The Green Loggia, was built in 1908. The Bird and Tree Club’s first meetings in 1913 were held in the upstairs, open-air loggia. The home still stands at 20 Whittier. Privately owned, it was on the 2018 BTG House & Garden Tour.

The Henrietta Ord Jones Society is a biannual giving society (like the Bestor Society) to provide individual sponsorship for the House & Garden Tour.
