Week Three: Monarch Moments & More

"The Zen of Beekeeping: Backyard Hives for Flowers, Honey and the Environment”
Speaker/Guide: Sharon Metcalf and Dr. Stefan LoBuglio
Location: Smith Wilkes Hall

An educator at American University and a prison reform specialist have teamed up over their shared interest in beekeeping. Join us for a fascinating dialogue on the role of bees in society, the interdependent sex life of flowers and bees, new DNA studies which elucidate bees’ foraging sources (as featured in National Geographic), why bees are vanishing, and how you can make a difference.

MONARCH MOMENTS AND MORE Bring your lunch and a healthy appetite for learning on Mondays 12:15pm in Smith Wilkes Hall. Expanding beyond solely discussing Monarchs, settle in for a lecture about a topic related to the natural world with a wide range of interesting speakers.

BUTTERFLIES AND BLOOMS program celebrates you - the gardeners in our audience who have adopted eco-friendly practices and have certified their gardens as monarch waystations with Monarch Watch. Prior to each Monarch Moments & More presentation, home owners will place a pin on their CHQ garden!
