Week Four: Lake Walk

Mushrooms: Manna or Menace?
Speaker/Guide: Garrett Taylor
Location: Lakeside porch of the Youth Activities Center near Heinz Beach

Garrett is a club mycologist for the Rochester Area Mycological Association, Western Pennsylvania Mushroom Club (Pittsburgh-Erie), and the Mycological Society of Toronto. He is a professional chef, which, as he explains, is the gateway profession of mycology. Garrett will be your guide into the realm of Fungi, or in deeper if you have already tested the waters. A non-strenuous walk is involved.

With a focus on land conservation and watershed education, the Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy, a 501C3 charity, is dedicated to preserving and enhancing the water quality, scenic beauty and ecological health of the lakes, streams and watersheds of the Chautauqua region. Working with residents, landowners, landscapers, developers, contractors, public officials, and governmental entities, CWC promotes best land management practices and preserves and restores the waterways/sheds of the region. CWC has led efforts resulting in the conservation of more than 1,000 acres of land and 2 miles of shoreline! chautauquawatershed.org
