by Sam Van Aiken, associate professor in the Art Department at Syracuse and visiting instructor in the the Institution’s School of Art.
The 40 fruits on one tree contain 40 varieties of heirloom, antique and native peaches, apricots, cherries, nectarines and plums, sculpted by grafting. The tree is an art work, a research project and a form of conservation.
