Week Four: Monarch Moments

"Munchkins & Monarchs: Ways to Engage & Empower Kids of All Ages in Saving the Monarchs"
Speakers/Guides: Betsy Burgeson,
Location: Smith Wilkes Hall

Betsy Burgeson, Chautauqua Institution’s Supervisor of Gardens and Landscapes, educator, master gardener, and mother of three “munchkins”, will give expert advice on the how-to’s of hand-raising monarchs…what to plant, how to identify monarch eggs, nurture caterpillars, feed adults, and release a healthy new generation.  Experience the wonder of transformation, and be a part of the monarch solution!

Betsy earned a Bachelor of Science in earth science and biology education and a master’s in science secondary education at Fredonia State University. She then taught biology for seven years at Panama Central in southern Chautauqua County. Betsy, a “third-generation gardener,” became the Supervisor of Gardens and Landscapes at Chautauqua Institution in 2015.
