Bishop's garden

Location: Corner of Peck Ave and South Lake Drive
What's Nearby: Methodist Vacation Home, Peck Rain Garden

Physical Characteristics:  This space is a hedge enclosed multi-level garden with two handsome Japanese Maple Trees next to the water fountain featuring a bronze statue. The flag stone patio and garden sit next to the stately Methodist Vacation Home, one of the many denomination houses on the grounds, just up the hill from South Lake Drive.

Historical Context: Situated on the original site of the tent platform home of Bishop John Heil Vincent, one of the co-founders of the Institution with Lewis Miller is a wonderful spot for quiet reflection. The cherub statue was created by Ruth Sherwood, daughter of William Sherwood who was head of the Institution Music Department in 1941.
